Paula Turner McKay -
Kappa Delta
Paula McKay graduated from the University of
Tulsa in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. While at
TU, Paula was chapter president, was named a Top Ten Outstanding
Senior, Mortar Board/ODK Woman of the Year and was a candidate
for homecoming queen.
After graduation, Paula began working for Southwestern Bell and
married John P. McKay, Jr. In 1984, she transferred to New
Jersey to work at AT&T corporate headquarters. In 1988, she came
back to Tulsa with AT&T and joined the Tulsa Kappa Delta Alumnae
Association.

Her son, Ross, was born in 1990. Paula served as
an officer, becoming president of the alumnae association in
1991. She was then asked to serve as the alumnae province
president by national Kappa Delta, where she supervised alumnae
associations in Oklahoma, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado and
Wyoming. Paula became an alumnae membership specialist and
worked to develop new alumnae associations across the country.
In 1995, she became the national director of alumnae membership,
where she supervised the alumnae membership specialist team.
Paula retired as a national officer in 1998. In 1999, Paula was
awarded the Order of the Emerald award, given to an alumna who
has displayed extraordinary service to the sorority.
Paula has served Kappa Delta at every level – local, state and
national. Currently, she is the treasurer of the Tulsa Alumnae
Association. Kappa Delta sisters were a main source of comfort
and support when her husband passed away unexpectedly in 2005.
Paula has been a member of the Junior League of Tulsa and has
served on the advisory board of the Tulsa Volunteer Council,
where she was president. She has volunteered with Asbury
Methodist Church, Faith United Methodist Church and Eisenhower
International School.
Paula is the community relations manager for Tulsa CASA (Court
Appointed Special Advocates), Inc. CASA is the national
philanthropy of Kappa Alpha Theta. So, Paula has been privileged
to work with many Theta Panhellenic sisters to help area abused
and neglected children.
Kappa Delta continues to be a lifetime commitment for Paula, and
she is appreciative of the opportunities that sorority
membership has provided.
