Paula Turner McKay -

Kappa Delta

Paula McKay graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. While at TU, Paula was chapter president, was named a Top Ten Outstanding Senior, Mortar Board/ODK Woman of the Year and was a candidate for homecoming queen.

After graduation, Paula began working for Southwestern Bell and married John P. McKay, Jr. In 1984, she transferred to New Jersey to work at AT&T corporate headquarters. In 1988, she came back to Tulsa with AT&T and joined the Tulsa Kappa Delta Alumnae Association.

Her son, Ross, was born in 1990. Paula served as an officer, becoming president of the alumnae association in 1991. She was then asked to serve as the alumnae province president by national Kappa Delta, where she supervised alumnae associations in Oklahoma, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming. Paula became an alumnae membership specialist and worked to develop new alumnae associations across the country. In 1995, she became the national director of alumnae membership, where she supervised the alumnae membership specialist team.

Paula retired as a national officer in 1998. In 1999, Paula was awarded the Order of the Emerald award, given to an alumna who has displayed extraordinary service to the sorority.

Paula has served Kappa Delta at every level – local, state and national. Currently, she is the treasurer of the Tulsa Alumnae Association. Kappa Delta sisters were a main source of comfort and support when her husband passed away unexpectedly in 2005.

Paula has been a member of the Junior League of Tulsa and has served on the advisory board of the Tulsa Volunteer Council, where she was president. She has volunteered with Asbury Methodist Church, Faith United Methodist Church and Eisenhower International School.

Paula is the community relations manager for Tulsa CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Inc. CASA is the national philanthropy of Kappa Alpha Theta. So, Paula has been privileged to work with many Theta Panhellenic sisters to help area abused and neglected children.

Kappa Delta continues to be a lifetime commitment for Paula, and she is appreciative of the opportunities that sorority membership has provided.
