Carole Lambert -
Pi Beta Phi
Carole Lambert grew up in Springfield, Mo., where
she was initiated into Pi Beta Phi sorority at Drury University.
She was song chairwoman and was awarded the honor for highest Pi
Phi scholastic average. Her senior year, Carole was named
Outstanding Greek Woman.
Carole was president of the Sigma Alpha Iota music sorority and
inducted into Mortar Board, Alpha Lambda Delta honor sorority
and Pi Kappa Lambda music honor society. She placed 2nd
runner-up in the Miss Missouri scholarship pageant.
Carole earned her bachelor of music degree in
voice at Drury. She served on the alumnae council and received
the Distinguished Alumna Award for community service. |

In 1975, Carole earned her master of music degree in voice at
the University of Illinois in Champagne-Urbana and was inducted
into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Following graduate school,
Carole pursued a professional singing career and received her
master of mass communication degree from Southern Methodist
University.
She launched her broadcasting career in 1979. Since 1982, Carole
has anchored the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts for KTUL
television in Tulsa. Since 2006, her anchor duties also include
NewsChannel 8’s 4 p.m. newscast.
A veteran broadcaster, Carole has received numerous professional
awards. Her series on literacy was recognized by the
International Reading Association and the 10 p.m. newscast was
honored with two Emmy awards for best daily newscast.
Carole is also the recipient of the Best of Broadcasting Award
from the American Women in Radio & Television and received the
“Friend of Children” award from the Oklahoma Institute of Child
Advocacy. The Oklahoma Department of Human Services recognized
Carole with the state volunteerism award. Former Gov. Frank
Keating proclaimed Nov. 23, 2000, as Carole Lambert Day in
appreciation for her Waiting Child adoption program. Carole
received the Congressional Adoption Award and Adoption
Excellence Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services. She was honored with the Sertoma’s Club “Service to
Mankind” award and the “Child Partner” award from the Tulsa
Advocates for the Protection of Children.
Carole has participated in hundreds of events and helped raise
money for numerous nonprofit organizations. She is an advisory
board member for the Assistance League of Tulsa and Brush Creek
Youth Ranch. Carole has been a member of the Tulsa Pi Beta Phi
Alumnae Club, serving as yearbook chairwoman and helping with Pi
Phi fundraisers and literacy programs.
A member of Disciples of Christ Christian Church, Carole feels
blessed by the opportunities she has been given and hopes that
through her accomplishments, she can make a difference in the
lives of others.
