The
2008 Woman of the Year honoree for Alpha Sigma Alpha is Becky
Hamby. Becky has been a loyal member of Alpha Sigma Alpha for
more than 40 years. She joined the Beta Gamma Chapter at
Northeastern State University in 1966. While attending NSU,
Becky served as rush chairwoman, Panhellenic Delegate and
historian. She was awarded the Frost Fidelity award her senior
year.
In 1969, Becky received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education.
After graduating from college, she joined Alpha Sigma Alpha’s
Tulsa Alumnae Chapter. During the past several years, she has
worn many hats in the organization, including editor, treasurer,
secretary, philanthropic chairwoman, hospitality chairwoman,
convention delegate and president.

Becky is in the middle of her 15th year as the organization’s
president. She has also been a member and supporter of Tulsa
Area Alumnae Panhellenic for several years and is currently
representing her chapter its delegate.
Becky has been a faithful member of Southern Hills United
Methodist Church since 1989. She has served the congregation as
chairwoman of the staff-parish relations committee,
administrative council and 1st women trustee committee. She has
served on the finance, outreach and nominations committees and
spent two years with the church audit team. She has held several
offices in the Southern Hills United Methodist Women’s Group,
including secretary, treasurer and vice president of programs
and a six-year term as president.
Becky has been a loyal employee of the Robinowitz Oil Company
with 27 years of service. She started at the company as an
accounts payable clerk and now holds the title of office
manager/accountant.
Becky has been married to Gary Hamby for 28 years. Gary is the
principal of Liberty High School. They live on 10 acres in
Glenpool with their four dogs, two cats, five horses and
miniature donkey. She is a supporter of recycling and animal
welfare and enjoys scrapbooking and crafts.
