Annabel Jones -

Gamma Phi Beta

Annabel Jones is Gamma Phi Beta’s Woman of the Year. Annabel currently serves as regional director overseeing all collegiate, alumnae and house corporation board activities in Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado and Arkansas. She is also assistant general counsel-corporate affairs for the Samson Companies.

Annabel was born in Oklahoma City and resided in Duncan until second grade. She then moved with her family to Irving, Texas, where she graduated from high school. She enrolled at the University of Oklahoma and pledged Gamma Phi Beta. She earned a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction degree in political science and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. As a Gamma Phi Beta member, she served as an officer, named Outstanding Greek Woman, awarded the Gold Letzeiser Medal and was a member of Mortar Board.

After graduating, Annabel attended the OU College of Law, where she earned a Juris Doctorate degree. During law school, she began her sorority alumnae volunteer work, serving as a house corporation board member, recruitment advisor, alumnae reference chairman and chapter advisor for the OU chapter.

On an international level, Annabel served on Gamma Phi Beta’s International Council as financial vice president from 2002 to 2006, as the Oklahoma province financial director for nine years, the sorority director-collegiate resources and on numerous committees. She is now on the International Financial Advisory Board. She recently completed a term as president of the Tulsa Alumnae Chapter and is now its treasurer.

Professionally, Annabel has been associated with the Samson Companies for more than 25 years, where her legal representation focuses on corporate and transactional matters. Before working at Samson, she was a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Luther B. Eubanks and served as assistant general counsel of the Oklahoma Securities Commission in its enforcement division. She serves on the American Bar Association’s Negotiated Acquisitions Committee.

As a volunteer, Annabel is on the Junior League’s Sustaining Board. Prior to that, she was a two-year board member of the Junior League, serving as community vice president and communications council vice president. She is a Leadership Tulsa member and has served on the boards for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Green Country and the Child Abuse Network. She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Annabel is an avid OU fan with an office filled with Sooner memorabilia and rarely misses a football game. She currently serves on the board of visitors for the OU College of Arts and Sciences.
